Neyshabur University held the the 2nd annual National Festival of Hakim Omar Khayyam Neyshaburi

According to the university's public relations report, the second annual National Festival of Hakim Omar Khayyam Neyshaburi was held on May 27, in Neyshabur University, with the presence of Dr. Rahmani Dost, the president of the university, officials from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, researchers, university professors, and students.

The ceremony in the scientific lectures section continued with the lectures of some speakers, as follow:

Lecture of Prof. Mohammad Mahdi Sheikh Jabari entitled “Cosmology and Future Horizons", lecture of Prof. Shahram Abbasi entitled "The History of Astronomy in Iran; Khayyam and the Neyshabur Planetarium", lecture of Seyed Mohammad Mohajer entitled “National Observatory of Iran”.

And then, on the other section of this festival, the round table conference was held which was entitled “Introducing the Khayyam Festival and its importance in the international arena".  

The ceremony ended with the awarding prizes to the special guests and winners of the Khayyam Festival competition.

On the sidelines of this ceremony, sculpture, calligraphy and painting workshops which centered on the theme of the festival were held by the students and professors of the Faculty of Arts of Neyshabur University. Also, the statue of Hakim Omar Khayyam Neyshaburi, the Iranian poet, astronomer, mathematician and philosopher, was unveiled in this festival. This statue is the work of Professor Jafar Najibi, the faculty member of sculpture department of Neyshabur University, a prominent national professor and sculptor.
