About the University of Neyshabur
The University of Neyshabur is a public institution of higher education located in Neyshabur, Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran. Situated in a city with a distinguished historical and intellectual heritage, the university is committed to advancing knowledge, fostering academic excellence, and contributing to the educational, scientific, cultural, and technological development of the region and the country.
Historical and Intellectual Heritage
Neyshabur has long been recognized as one of the major centers of knowledge and culture in the history of the Islamic world. Following the arrival of Imam Reza (AS) in Neyshabur and the subsequent development of scholarly and cultural institutions, the city became an important center of learning, attracting scholars, intellectuals, and students from different parts of the region.
Among the most prominent educational institutions in the history of Neyshabur was the Nizamiyyah School, established in the fifth century AH under the patronage of Nizam al-Mulk. The intellectual legacy of Neyshabur is also closely associated with distinguished scholars and literary figures such as Omar Khayyam, Attar of Neyshabur, Imam al-Haramayn al-Juwayni, and Al-Ghazali. This rich intellectual heritage continues to inspire the academic identity and educational mission of the University of Neyshabur.
Development of the University
The contemporary history of higher education in Neyshabur dates back to 1994, when the university center was established with academic programs in Food Industries Engineering and Social Sciences. In 1999, the Faculty of Art was established, admitting students in fields including Painting, Graphic Design, and Sculpture.
In 2006, the institution was promoted to the status of the Higher Education Complex of Neyshabur, with the establishment of additional academic units, including the Faculties of Literature and Humanities and Sciences. Following the development of its academic infrastructure and the establishment of the Faculties of Agriculture and Engineering, the institution was subsequently upgraded to the University of Neyshabur.
The university continued its development as a public higher education institution, expanding its academic programs, educational facilities, and research activities. In 2009, the Higher Education Development Council approved the university's full independence from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. At that time, the institution comprised five faculties and 22 academic departments.

In 2022, following a series of consultations with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the university was selected as a pioneering university for the design and implementation of the transformation plan in the higher education system.
One of the major outcomes of this initiative has been the development of programs focusing on emerging and disruptive technologies. In this context, the university has undertaken the establishment of the Faculty of Novel Interdisciplinary Technologies, with the aim of fostering interdisciplinary education, promoting knowledge-based employment, and developing human resources equipped with the knowledge and skills required for emerging technological fields.
The university's interdisciplinary orientation encompasses areas such as industrial and urban technologies, new energies, natural products and mineral processing, smart and cognitive technologies, biotechnology, and nanotechnology.
