Department of Sociology

Sociology is the science of our social life in all its dimensions, and it aims to expand our knowledge about problems regarding our societies and collective life. To tackle those problems, our students will not only learn about the various fields in the social sciences, but will be skilled in theoretical and methodological approaches to social science research.

The strategy of the sociology department is to work to attain scientific authority with an emphasis on inter-state studies; to improve social life through research on socio-political issues and to have an active presence in academic contexts of the world.

By the end of their study programs, students are able to:

• Conduct social, cultural, and economic studies
• Manage research programs that are needed by different bodies of the state, civil society, and international organizations
• Implement programs and social policymaking at different levels
• Evaluate and monitor social plans and programs on theoretical and practical levels
