We are living in an era in which artificial intelligence has begun to transform and, in some cases, replace many technology-related occupations. However, artistic professions and skilled craftsmanship continue to offer promising employment opportunities. Many people continue to value and seek out handmade products and crafts.

Given the growing importance of the precious metals industry in the global economy and the increasing interest of countries around the world in this sector, together with Iran’s several-thousand-year history and heritage in jewelry making, the field of Gold and Jewelry Design and Making represents a significant potential area for economic development. This field offers considerable opportunities for the employment of skilled, creative, and innovative professionals.

The establishment of the Gold and Jewelry Design and Making program was approved in 1395 (2016–2017) by the Art and Architecture Group of the Supreme Council for Educational Planning of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.

At present, the program is offered at two levels: Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree. Students in these programs learn about the tools, techniques, and methods used in gold and jewelry design, as well as the principles required for pattern development, design creation, and the production and fabrication of jewelry. The curriculum enables students to develop the knowledge and practical skills necessary to create jewelry that reflects the culture, traditions, and customs of Iran while remaining informed by contemporary global art and design trends.
