Iran has abundant mineral potentials; therefore, the development of mineral activities is considered one of the indicators of prosperity. Mineral activities can be divided into three parts: exploration, extraction, and mineral processing.

The diversity of minerals available in the country, as well as the diversity of processing methods for each of them, indicate the importance of research in the field of mineral processing. The use of modern technologies allows us to choose the best and most optimal method in the field of mineral extraction and processing and, ultimately, the least amount of chemicals and energy are used for material processing and mineral extraction and production.

Therefore, Neyshabur University, considering the potential of the city, is engaged in educational and research activities in this specialized field by establishing this educational group and recruiting students in the field of applied gemology and industrial minerals.
